Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Indian cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir and Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, congratulated the Indian men’s hockey team after their emphatic 4-1 win over defending champions South Korea in the Asia Cup 2025 final held in Rajgir, Bihar, on Sunday.
India’s dominance in the title clash was underlined by goals from Sukhjeet Singh (1’), Dilpreet Singh (28’, 45’), and Amit Rohidas (50’), ending the country’s eight-year wait for continental glory. The triumph also secured India’s direct qualification for the 2026 Hockey World Cup in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Celebrating the victory, PM Modi wrote on X: “Congratulations to our Men’s Hockey Team for their splendid win in the Asia Cup 2025 held in Rajgir, Bihar. This win is even more special because they have defeated the defending champions, South Korea! This is a proud moment for Indian hockey and Indian sports. May our players continue to scale even greater heights and bring more glory to the nation!”
Former cricketer Gautam Gambhir, now India’s head coach, hailed the team with a brief but powerful post: “Well done boys! Sensational!”
Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also expressed his delight, stating: “Outstanding performance!
